Wesley Edens is one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, thanks to his investments and business ventures in the financial industry. In 1991, he founded New York Private Investors Group (NYPIG), a network that connects financial professionals looking to invest their capital with people who have money they want to support. He also began working as a broker at Goldman Sachs in their Private Wealth Management division. Wes Edens is also the co-founder and chairman of Fortress Investment Group, a New York-based hedge fund that invests in distressed assets. He has been involved in the management of this firm since its inception in 1998. This is the same year he joined the board of directors at Goldman Sachs and was later promoted to senior vice president. In 2008, Wes Edens was appointed to serve on Fortress Investment Group’s board of directors. He is also a trustee at the University of Chicago and Princeton University.

In 1991, after obtaining his MBA from Harvard Business School, Wes Edens founded NYPIG, an investment network connecting people with capital with people with the money they want to invest. The following year, he was promoted by Goldman Sachs to be the director of their Private Wealth Management division. He was responsible for its $550 billion client base across all asset classes (stocks, bonds, commodities). After seven years with Goldman Sachs as a senior vice president and director of their Private Wealth Management division, Edens moved on to become a partner at Anderson Capital Partners, where he worked alongside David Swensen for two years before serving as CEO for three years. In 2001 he joined BlackRock, where he served as an executive. From 2002-2007, he was responsible for all asset allocation activities within BlackRock’s global private wealth management business unit. He then served as CEO of Fortress Investment Group (FIG) from 2007-2012, during which time they grew their assets under management.
